Ask of God

Moroni 10:4
And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

James 1: 5-8
5. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

First, I will say that this is very true. Asking of God is not only "Biblical", it is "Spiritual".

Both in the Bible and Book of Mormon, God says that we can ask of him when we need understanding, confirmation, or simply the truth to the matter we have concern with. Yet, with this offer and teaching from God, it comes with conditions, said in the Bible and in the Book of Mormon. In the Bible it says that we are to ask in faith, nothing wavering. What wavers a person? It is the lack of sincerity, no real intent, among other things. If a person fails to ask in sincerity and real intent to seek God for the truth, putting aside his/her own ideas and beliefs, then God will manifest the truth to you in his own time by the power of the Holy Ghost.

Many times I have done this and many times I have received answers, truth, understanding and peace. These scriptures are true, they speak the truth about God and proved to me that God is real and alive and he STILL speaks to us. Yes I did say that it proved to me that God is real. I did not have to ask God to prove himself, I merely asked in prayer with sincerity and real intent and by the answers received, that proved to me that God's word is true.

Confirmations that this Church, prophet or doctrine is true is done by God giving to you spiritual understanding so you can "discern" the truth yourself and make your own free choice. God does not choose for you, he will help you understand or learn what is needed so that you can make your own choice in matters, even if that matter concerns the truth of this Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That is how I received my confirmation that this Church is true.

This comes with a warning to all, both member and nonmember. DO NOT approach God with the intent or idea that you are seeking to disprove others, not even the authority of this Church because this will work or come back against you. This because the real intent is in contention and confrontation and this is the spirit of Satan, the father of all lies. By this intent (the state of heart) and by the state of mind, you will draw to you unsavoury spirits who will be more than accommodating to contentious beliefs and mislead you.

Those that contend with the scriptures, have angers, hate, resentments, upsets toward this Church, it's members or doctrine are best advised to resolve their issues or seek the Spirit of God to help you resolve your issues. This will gain you the Spirit of God because you seek to overcome your negative state, but if at any time you use that negative state to contend with God, this doctrine, his Church or any of it's members, then woe unto that person for he seeks Satan and has no heart to God at all.

Sincerity of heart and mind is important here. It is a spiritual responsibility that we cannot ignore, no matter the reason.

Amen
