Printer Friendly Instructions

The pages on this web site, Inner Light Vision, are printer friendly. This means that when you click "print" in the browser, the page will print out to fill a regular size sheet of paper, with preset borders on either side of the page, with no images other than the header.

For those who want to make finer adjustments in how a page prints, can do so by accessing the "Print Preview" selection under the "File" menu of each browser, at least for the Internet Explorer IE5 & IE6, and FireFox 1.0 & 1.5. I believe most browsers hold to the same set up. Below is some help as to how to adjust the printout of the page.

Print Adjustments - Internet Explorer IE 5 & 6

Click "File" in the top text menu of the browser window, then down that menu to click "Print Preview". (see photo just below)

When the print preview window opens you will see the first page rendered into the window.

To adjust the borders of the page before printing, for the left and right, or on the top or bottom, or even choose what is printed with that page, click the "page setup" button that looks like this: (Note: in IE7, the image button to click is very similar, a "cog wheel". It opens the same configuration window)

page setup button

When you place your cursor over that button, it will show a label saying it is a "page setup (Alt+U)" feature.

When you click that button the page setup window opens and looks like this,

On the bottom right side of that window, you will see the area called "Margin (inches)". Place your cursor into any one of those smaller fields, as for example the "Left :" and type the margin size you want.

Then click "OK" and you will see the preview adjust the page. Keep adjusting in that manner until you are satisfied with how the page will print. You can click the "Print" button, top left corner of the print preview window. The print window opens and you can click the "Print" buttom on the bottom to print all the pages or choose which page to print, click "apply" then "Print"

(Note: – by default, Windows sets the measure units as inches (U.S.). If you want to change the measurement units to "millimeters" you need to go into "Control Panel", click "Regional and Language Options", then click "Customize" which is on the "Regional Options" tab, then go down the list till you see the field named, "Measurement System". Beside that is a drop list, click that down pointer arrow and choose "Metric". Then click "apply" and close those windows.)

Print Adjustments - FireFox

In the FireFox browser it is much the same, but with some differences.

Click "File" in the top text menu of the browser window, then down that menu to click "Print Preview". (see photo just below)

Click the tab named, "Margins & Header/Footer"

In the center of that tabbed window, you will see the open fields for the left, right, top and bottom margin measurements (in inches).

Place your cursor into any one of those smaller fields, as for example the "Left :" and type the margin size you want.

Then click "OK" and you will see the preview adjust the page. Keep adjusting in that manner until you are satisfied with how the page will print. Note: With Firefox print preview, there may be a tendancy for the screen to show some of the words on the page cut off at the margin area of the right side of the page. I believe this is a bug in the program as I test printed a page to find that the words were not cut off and it printed fine. Just make sure that you have a sufficent margin to print and it should be fine.

Printing Problems

There are many reasons why you cannot print at all. Such as the printer software is not installed, or a fault occurring in the printer software, or you have some of the settings off, or the cable connection to the printer is disconnected, even slightly, and so on. Go to your printer properties and troubleshoot the problem. If you have tried everything, make sure your printer drivers are current for the windows version you are using. You may have to access your printer manufacturer on the Internet to download current drivers. Otherwise an uninstall and reinstall can solve the problem, if all else above fails.
