What Other Christian's Say
This web page, "What Other Christian's Say" will list, from time to time, what other Christian's in other denominations have preached or said, which falls directly in line with the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
The purpose is to show the work of the Lord on the rest of the world. The affect the Lord has had and where it is leading many other Christian's to understand. By the hand of the Lord, many other Christian's will come to learn the very same truths taught by this LDS Church since this Church was started by the Lord through his chosen prophet Joseph Smith. Which shows that others will begin to see, as the Lord prepares them bit by bit, that this is the Lord's true Church on the earth. Only now are the Christians in the general Christian Communities coming to understand the very truths the restored Gospel teaches.
As the Lord teaches and brings people to see and understand truth, line by line and precept by precept, the Lord is bringing others to be in harmony with his gospel, that all will know the Lord, and that many will have one faith and one spirit.
David Feddes, "Built to Last" sermon / October 19, 2003
David Feddes spoke by radio and posts his sermons in the Internet at the "Back to God .com."
If you have no belief in Jesus as God and as the only way of salvation, you have no foundation in Christ, and you will be lost forever unless there's a great change and Jesus becomes your foundation. But don't think Jesus' warning is only for those who don't believe he is the Lord God and never bother to read the Bible or find out what he says. No, this warning is directed at people who hear what Jesus says and have a certain kind of belief and even consider themselves Christians. It's necessary to hear Jesus' words and call him Lord you can't be saved without that but though it's necessary, it's not enough. Christianity is not just listening to Jesus' words every Sunday. Christianity is listening to Jesus and doing what he says. It's not just saying he's Lord or having a correct belief in your head. It's a life built on Jesus and lived under the authority of his words.
We as individuals do something similar whenever we're more concerned about making a good impression on others than building our lives on the Lord. We do it whenever we want superficial quick fixes instead of deep and permanent change. We want more self-esteem; we don't want a new self. We want to feel better without actually becoming better.

Comment
His sermon focused primarily on building a foundation in Christ, making an analogy to how a strong house is built. This is an important message, one that is becoming the focal point for many in these latter days. So much so, this Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints takes such preaching to a deeper and more serious level than many. This has been the practice for decades, where with others, generally speaking, it is just becoming important. Therefore I wish to take you deeper and become more serious in regards to a foundation in Christ. This is to speak of the importance of the Holy Ghost.
As David Feddes mentioned, that we are to build a foundation by the authoritative words of Jesus Christ, by obeying and living it. This "authority" must extend further than just the words of Christ, it must include the quickening spirit and Holy Ghost. Since Christ created his Church in days of old, he did so by his "authority", and that included the promise of the Holy Ghost or Comforter. The Apostles of old spoke by the Spirit, that was how the gift of tongues was obtained and inspired scripture was given. The old Church was directed by Jesus through the Holy Ghost, and a testimony of Jesus Christ can only come by the Holy Ghost. All of these things, and more, shows a very crucial pattern to how we are to build on that rock foundation.
In order for the Church of Christ to exist today, it must come by the same way. By the authority of Jesus Christ, through the Holy Ghost. This was done by Jesus Christ and the Father through the prophet Joseph Smith. By the example of Joseph Smith, God ordained a prophet, making this Church a true Church of Jesus Christ, who is our Lord, Saviour and God. Then by the authority from Jesus Christ, through the Holy Ghost, his Church was built up to provide the sincere and truly faithful a place where each can do their work of salvation, which is part of building in Christ.
If you wish to read more about this from the – First Presidency Message - Continuing Revelation
The importance of revelation (through the Holy Ghost) can never be understated. It is that which builds the Lord's Church and what shall prevail against the gates of hell ( Matthew 16:18 ), as Bruce McConkie said this so succinctly,
And then the matter of deep change. Unfortunately, David Feddes, in this particular sermon, failed to mention the important ingredient to deep inner change. That being the Spirit of God, and the Holy Ghost. David Feddes quoted C.S. Lewis, a very profound Christian writer. C.S Lewis made it clear that such inner change cannot be done by ourselves, it can only come from God himself, through his Spirit. (To read that quote from C.S. Lewis, go to my "Quote" page on this site, click here)
So, other Christians are getting the picture, bit by bit, but if you want to see the entire picture, you need to study the restored Gospel from Jesus Christ himself. To do that, requires faith and belief that Jesus Christ still operates through and with a prophet and Holy Ghost, as in the days of old. Else any disbelief will only serve to blind you because the broken heart and contrite spirit is missing.
Peter Youngren / Televised September 4, 2003
Peter Youngren, founder of the "World Impact Ministries" was presenting his sermon on television that day. From his sermon, he spoke of an interesting truth, not normally found in the general Christian Community. The following is what Mr. Youngren had said (paraphrased),
"It is not enough to believe, that we need the Holy Ghost to make changes inside of us"

The restored Gospel, being the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price, had taught these very spiritual principles about the importance of the Holy Ghost. Through the power of the Holy Ghost people can receive inspiration and learn the truth by properly perceiving the truth. The "gift" of the Holy Ghost can only come after baptism by water in this Church and the laying on of hands by the Melchizedek Priesthood to impart the gift, as did the apostles of old.
With this teaching spreading throughout the general Christian communities, many will see that only by the Holy Ghost can a person confirm if this LDS Church is true and be able to testify that Jesus Christ is Lord. Without the Holy Ghost, there is no testimony of Jesus Christ. All there is without the Holy Ghost is a belief, which is a beginning, but not enough to sustain someone in Christ.

This principle of the husband being the spiritual leader in the home and family is at the root of the Melchizedek Priesthood of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is the direction, teaching and gospel truth taught by the Lord himself, through the Prophet that the head of the family is the husband and is the spiritual leader.
This is not down-grading women, as it is also the teaching of the Lord that the husband is to love his wife, be kind and loving to her, acting with all conscience of a saint. That she shares in his leadership duties, and takes his place in his absence. That his spiritual power as a "husband" and spiritual leader in family and marriage is incomplete without the wife, and the woman needs the husband to have the spiritual power of being a wife in a spiritual family and marriage under God. This is the meaning of, "and they shall be one flesh"
